Chief Compliance Officer, Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen (Helaba)

Edwin Rivas is the Chief Compliance Officer at Helaba, responsible for overseeing regulatory compliance governance for the US. He is also responsible for managing relationships with key regulators including the Federal Reserve Bank (FRB) and the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS).

Mr. Rivas has extensive experience in anti-money laundering, regulatory compliance and internal audit at international and domestic financial services institutions. Appearing on television news he discussed the impact of the USA PATRIOT Act requirements, and conducted regulatory compliance training presentations in the USA, Latin America and Europe.

In 2011, Mr. Rivas partnered with the Association of International Audit and Compliance Professionals Inc. (AIBA) and professors at Pace University’s Lubin School of Business and joined the Content/Curriculum Committee that developed the three-course format of the Certified Compliance and Regulatory Professional (CCRP ®) program launched at Pace University in January, 2012. A subject matter expert, Mr. Rivas lectures regularly at CCRP classes.

During the course of his career, Mr. Rivas earned the following professional certifications: Certified Compliance Regulatory Professional (CCRP), Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), Anti-Money Laundering Professional (AMLP), Certified Financial Services Auditor (CFSA) and Certified Risk Management Assurance (CRMA). He is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors, Institute of Certified Bankers, Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS) and Bank Administration Institute (BAI), and serves on the board of the AIBA.
