Managing Director, Head of Audit – Americas
David joined Standard Chartered Bank in September 2004 as Head of Audit – Americas. In this role he has responsibility for the delivery of internal audit services in the US, Canada and six countries in Latin America. Effective October 1, 2015 he was appointed as Head of Audit – Europe & Americas and thereby assumed the additional responsibilities for audit services in Europe, working with the Head of Audit – Europe.
David began his career with Price Waterhouse in London before transferring to New York in 1984, where he became a senior manager in the firm’s financial services practice. Since leaving PW in 1991, he has held positions as Audit Director for ING Barings, Credit Agricole Indosuez and Daiwa Securities America Inc. in New York. Before joining SCBNY he was a partner in a small consulting firm providing regulatory-related services to broker-dealers. David’s senior industry positions have included serving as Chairman of the Association of International Bank Auditors (AIBA), President of the Association of Chartered Accountants in the United States and a member of the Executive Committee of the Securities Industry Association Internal Audit Division. He is currently a Director of the AIBA.
Recent speaking engagements have included panel sessions on Internal Audit issues at the 2012 and 2013 annual ACAMS conferences in Las Vegas, and the 2014 FIBA AML conference in Miami.
David is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He received his LL.B. from the University of Exeter in 1980.
